Timestamps left in old local time when system timezone changed

Reported by: brion Owned by: timothy
Component: Colloquy (Mac) Version: 2.1 (Mac)
Severity: Minor Keywords:

Description

Conversation timestamps in Colloquy windows seem to consistently use the system local time that was in effect when Colloquy was started, thus showing what appears to be the wrong timestamp on new chat events that happen after the system time zone is changed.

I've seen this frequently when traveling; I put the laptop to sleep in California, wake it up on the East Coast or Europe, set the time zone, reconnect IRC... and five minutes later I notice all the timestamps in Colloquy are still 3 (or 9!) hours off.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Colloquy and chat a bit
  2. (optional) put laptop to sleep, fly to another state/country, and wake it
  3. Change time zone in System Preferences - Date & Time - Time Zone
  4. Chat a bit more.

Expected results:
Similar to changing raw system time or waking after sleep, new events should simply show up with the new local time, eg:

  • [5:35 pm] <brion> blah blah I'm in PST
  • [8:36 pm] <brion> blah blah I switched to EST
  • [5:37 pm] <brion> blah blah I switched back

Actual results:
New chat lines show up with their times in the original timezone from when Colloquy was started, like this:

  • [5:35 pm] <brion> blah blah I'm in PST
  • [5:36 pm] <brion> blah blah I switched to EST
  • [5:37 pm] <brion> blah blah I switched back

Works fine for me. Possibly fixed in r4681, although it might have been fixed in an earlier revision..
