#955 new Defect

Make it possible to display number of users with several servers connected

Reported by: limi Owned by: timothy

Description

There should be a way to make Colloquy always display the "N users" indicator in the nick list (as an option or a hidden preference setting).

When I connect to more than one server, it shows the server name instead of the user count, which isn't very useful to me — and it seems others share that sentiment (from #colloquy):

  prophile: I second that
  • Raim too
  edy: ditto

I modified the source of JVChatPanel.m (from the subversion trunk) to show the 'number of users - server' in the case of more than one server. Basically:

return [NSString stringWithFormat:NSLocalizedString( @"%d members - %@", "number of room members information line" ), [_sortedMembers count], server];

and found that it's been working well so far and doesn't take up too much more screen real estate IMO. My suggestion would be to have this be an option somewhere. Could be disabled by default in an effort to keep the chat window as uncluttered as possible.

I'd love to have this implemented into Colloquy.
