I'm not the author of this plugin, but I have spent quite some
time trying to solve this. I can reenable it to speak, but in
a way that it will speak out HTML tags as well, not nice.

The problem seems to be that the AppleScript?

on process incoming chat message m from theSender in view given «class piM1»:action

will return a message object not that flexible.
The old code used a line similar to

set receivedString to (the rich text of m) as string

to get a string to speak out. This now seems to result
in the empty string, and I have to use

set receivedString to (the HTML of m) as string

This will return a string, but with HTML tags in it.
And AppleScript? being very limited, I have trouble
get away with the HTML tags.

The best would be it I could use something like

set receivedString to (the plain text of m) as string

I try read the source code, but have to admit I don't know
objective-C at all, and have a hard time following the
execution flow between the plugin and the other source.
So I fear I can't fix this problem myself, I would need
your help to reenable the speech plugin to work as it
