Nick changes to "away" on irc.freenode.net

Description

When logged in at #existdb on irc.freenode.net, my registered nick (twu) is suddenly changed to "away". It seems like Colloquy initiates this change with "NICK away". After that the server responds that this nick belongs to someone else and asks Colloquy to enter the password. This fails, since the password for my real nick (twu) is sent.

See below for the console output:

PING clarke.freenode.net
PONG clarke.freenode.net twu

NICK away
twu MODE twu -e
twu NICK
NickServ? NOTICE This nickname is owned by someone else
NickServ? NOTICE If this is your nickname, type /msg NickServ? IDENTIFY <password>
PRIVMSG NickServ? IDENTIFY secretpassword
NickServ? NOTICE Password Incorrect

PING clarke.freenode.net
PONG clarke.freenode.net away

After that, the connection window also reflects the new nick. However, I have to change to the console, change and register the nick manually back to "twu". After a while the whole thing starts over...

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

It sounds like you have the "Away nickname" script installed.

This is not something Colloquy does. Try removing that script.
