Description

Most mainstream IRC clients now support libOTR for private conversations... it's notably absent in Colloquy.

Change History (8)

  • Component changed from Colloquy (Mac) to Chat Core (General)
  • Version 2.4 (Mac) deleted

While OTR is nice, AFAIK, Pidgin is the only client that supports it at the moment.

At least irssi and xchat also support it. And Adium, of course.

I've been using Colloquy for years now, along with the FISHy plugin to encrypt my communication. FISHy is no longer supported so I'll need to switch to OTR soon ...

https://github.com/afflux/pure-python-otr maybe this is easier to integrate ?

Python implementations of OTR cannot be used. We will likely use https://github.com/ChatSecure/OTRKit, if we support OTR.

Also, irssi and Xchat only support OTR through a plugin, not natively.

So, how is it going? Will there be private conversations?
