#38 closed Defect (Fixed)

Copy/paste includes random characters.

Reported by: ScottM Owned by: timothy
Component: Colloquy (Mac) Version: 2.0 (Mac)
Severity: Major Keywords: Text render

When click-dragging to copy various types of text (this may hold true for all text, but certainly for things which could be a url (but are not recognised as such as they don't start with www or http://, as well as user@host designations (ala email), pasting the text into a browser or text editor includes funky characters.

Example. I clicked-dragged over this url form the channel, copied, and pasted:\xe2\x80\x8b/newticket

This causes all sorts of problems in browsers, text editors, etc...

Those funky chars are zero-width spaces we add to long URLs to get them to break properly (since normally they wouldn't break at all in the output). [2484] and [2485] fix this for copying. However this does not fix this problem if you drag the text out of the display (select the text, then click and drag it), because there's no way (that I know of) that we can strip the chars on dragging.
