can't connect

I'm having an issue connecting. I have the right server and port and am using SSL. When I hit connect, the button flashes to indicate it connects, and then disconnects immediately.

Console output:
NICK kelseys
USER kelseys 0 * Stemmler, Kelsey

This information is not very useful to me as it does not indicate what the error is. I googled this issue for quite some time and was unable to find anything useful.
