#2433 new Defect

deleting server dialog, the button order is unconventional

Reported by: casemon@… Owned by: timothy
Component: Colloquy (Mac) Version: 2.3 (Mac)
Severity: Normal Keywords:

Description

Convention (as per Apple Interface Guidelines) is that the default button / action is the one the user initiated the dialog for / the one you want to do.

Contrasting this, Colloquy has the Cancel button as the default button.

Since showing the dialog is already a confirm, making the default not the action you want to do is essentially doubling the alert. This is not needed and is a little annoying.

Another example:
Check how iChat dialog buttons when deleting an Account in Preferences.

Also here are the Apple guidelines, scroll down to the Alerts section:

Hope this helps! Colloquy is a great program!

Thanks for all your great effort!
