Is there a way to stop the auto join preference so I don't get the notice every time I sign on?

Why? They're not related to each other, beyond both relating to "auto-join". They won't likely be fixed by the same change in code.

The problem with stopping auto-join may be unrelated to banning.
Maybe treat this #1926 as a duplicate of #1932.
