#1902 closed Defect (Invalid)

Hostname and IP address showing on whois (not really a defect - just not sure how to do what i want)

Description

I use windows irc client on IRC at work and use Colloquy on my Mac at home.

When using undernet the windows client (mIRC) masks the ip address and hostname whenever I log into undernet x nickserv.

However when using Colloquy the ip address and hostname show up even when logged into X server on undernet.

Heres a comparison of the whois (get info) data on both as it appears:

===================
Class: Normal User
Away Info: n/a

IP Address: 71.238.27.186
hostname: c-71-238-27-186.hsd1.comcast.net
username: outbound-111
real name: outbound-111

Server: mesa.az.undernet.org
Rooms: #inbound-1111

====================
Class: Normal User
Away Info: n/a

IP Address: n/a
hostname: MSTR1176.users.undernet.org
username: dddd
real name: rrrt

Server: *.undernet.org
Rooms: #inbound-1111
=====================

note that the windows client hides the ip and uses the nickserv registered name as host name.

Is there anyway to duplicate this "hiding" on Colloquy?

What am I doing wrong or am I just stuck with showing the ip and host?

I love your program and want to use and donate but am not comfortable showing the info.

Thanks!!

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

Setting mode +x on yourself does what you want, as I mentioned in the email.
