Description

Hello, I have been using your iPhone app for months and love it, I especially like the new feature you've added with push notifications, the only problem is I do not own a Mac computer. I plan to buy one over time but can not afford to at this current time. This leaves me without the ability to use the push feature. I had an idea, I currently pay a monthly fee for my IRC bouncer which runs on a linux server, I'm not sure if you could do this or not, but you should try making some way to sell bouncers which will work with the Colloquy iPhone app. I currently pay $8.00 per month for a unix shell account which allows me to run 4 irc processes, such as 4 irc bouncers or 4 irc bots. It would require you to maintain a server, but could end up making you some money, especially if the colloquy push feature is resource friendly. Or another idea is making a windows version of Colloquy, which would probably be more time consuming. But anyways, love your app, just thought I'd let you know I'd be willing to pay for a Colloquy bouncer. Thanks

People are working on Push scripts for irssi and mIRC, both of which run on windows. http://colloquy.info/project/ticket/1753 is the other ticket related to Push on windows.

Also, please see jane's comment here as to why it is unlikely that we will host a bouncer service.

You can also run ZNC and receive push notifications: http://colloquy.info/project/wiki/PushNotifications#ZNCforMacOSXandLinux
