#1723 closed Enhancement (Fixed)

Add preference to not use "//" for escaping

Description

At http://colloquy.info/project/browser/trunk/Panels/JVDirectChatPanel.m#L1102 there is the following code:

if( [[subMsg string] hasPrefix:@"//"] ) [subMsg deleteCharactersInRange:NSMakeRange( 0, 1 )];

This means that if a line begins with "", the first "/" is deleted. The purpose of this code is to escape the "/" character at the beginning of a line, which is normally used to start a chat command.

I'd like a preference to turn off this deletion of the first "/" of "" at the beginning of a line. The reason is that I tend to paste a lot of source code into IRC, and lines of source code frequently begin with "" to indicate a comment. I would like to preserve the exact text of the source code I'm pasting.

I don't mind if this preference is hidden rather than in the UI.
