#1433 closed Enhancement (Won't Fix)

/Whois info window makes it hard to copy the info of someone

Reported by: Kevin Owned by: timothy
Component: Colloquy (Mac) Version: 2.2 (Mac)
Severity: Normal Keywords: /Whois options

When doing a /whois on someone, instead of displaying all of the person's info as text in the main Window Colloquy opens up a "info" panel on them. This is all well and nice, and probably neat for newbies, but for someone that admins a channel or a IRC server this can be a PITA especially if you want to copy the users info really quick.

There should be an option to have the /whois display the info in the main channel like most IRC clients do, or to show it like Colloquy does now. This way everyone is happy.

I know this is one thing that has been a deal-breaker for those that have tried Colloquy. The /whois isn't very efficient for "power" users.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

You can use the Console (/console). We don't plan to change this or make it an option. Colloquy goes tp great lengths to keep clutter and command results out of the chat transcript.

What about making the text in the info window selectable as a whole, like in a web page or the Apple Address Book? That would allow getting the whole info, without changing the presentation.

kpreid, that sounds like a good idea. Can you file a new ticket for that?
