#1062 closed Defect (Won't Fix)

Selection in sidebar doesn't always indicate into which room you're speaking

Reported by: aroben Owned by: timothy
Component: Colloquy (Mac) Version: 2.1 (Mac)
Severity: Normal Keywords:
Cc:

Description

The selection in the sidebar is very useful for showing you which room you're speaking into. However, if you:

  1. Are in Room A, and have it selected in the sidebar
  2. Click on a username in Room B

then the selection moves to the username in Room B, but you remain speaking into Room A. This is confusing because the selection no longer indicates into which room you're speaking.

  • Severity changed from normal to major

Can't bump up priority but I'd like to second this as a serious UI defect. Hope it is OK I'm elevating the severity one notch.

  • priority changed from Highest to Normal
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Severity changed from Major to Normal
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is not a UI defect. The other argument would be that it makes no sense to change focus to Room B if you just wanted to message/whois the user in Room B.

(However, this may be addressed in the future with Colloquy 3.0, see #942.)
